Guest Student Stay
Interested individuals may apply to stay anywhere from one week to one month as a Guest Student. The Guest Student stay is free of charge and includes room and board. Guest Students will be expected to follow the entire schedule of meditation periods and service at Dorothy's Place and all residential community events. We ask that you try to arrive on a Sunday and leave on a Friday afternoon or Saturday morning. If needed, somewhat shorter stays can be accommodated. Upon completion and evaluation of two full weeks as a Guest Student, individuals can apply and be considered for the Work Practice Program.
Work Practice Program
For those wanting and extended period of practice, and who may want to consider a more significant commitment to residency with Eyes of Compassion Zen Center, we offer Engaged Work Practice Apprenticeships. The length of the Work Practice Program is three months. Upon completion of two three month Work Practice Programs, one can apply and be considered for a longer term commitment with Eyes of Compassion Zen Center. As with a Guest Student stay, this engaged Work Practice Program includes room and board, and in addition offers a $300 per month stipend. And as with a short term stay, you will be expected to participate in the entire schedule of meditation and service. Long term residents will also be given the opportunity to learn traditional ceremonial positions in the meditation hall.
